Cliques
You have your preps, jocks, geeks, freaks, nerds, emos, Goths,
Outsiders….even the outsiders outside the outsiders.
Different people in different cliques in one place.
High school.
We pass each other every day, in the hallway.
Sometimes we wave to each other, say "hey" every now and then.
Sometimes we don't say anything to each other at all.
Cliques….
If you were friends with someone, and when you got here--
They got sucked into a "clique".
You probably can't even speak to them now.
If you're not in the clique, you're sometimes—not always—
Dead to anyone that's in that clique.
How many times do we fight because of how different we
And our cliques are?
There're constant jeers and sneers as we pass by each other in that hallway….even when we are unaware of it.
Cliques….
Why do we have them? What's the point?
We're all in one, but as soon as we are seniors and step out the doors of adolescence and graduate—we wonder as we're growing old—what the point was.
Cliques….
Let's move on. It's overrated, overdone; why should we submit ourselves to one label? We all have one heart that beats the life that was given to us.
Think the next time you feel and hear your heart beat.
It's the song of the rhythm of life and life to be.
All our hearts beat as one, heavenly divine.
Let's line up the pieces together—yours and mine.
